SOLD - 1979 Gibson "The SG" Standard - Walnut
1979 Gibson "The SG" - Walnut w/ Ebony Fretboard - Upgraded Burstbuckers
Up for sale is a rare and vibey piece of Gibson history: a 1979 "The SG" in a beautiful natural Walnut finish. Made in the legendary Kalamazoo factory, this model is a favorite among players who want vintage Gibson bones without the standard SG price tag.
This light-weight (7 lbs) example is probably the most comfortable, worn-in guitar I've ever played. Sounds and plays incredibly. Comes with original case, which still functions and has a lot of stories to tell (both the guitar and case have heavy use and lots of vibe).
Condition & Playability This is a true survivor. The walnut body has aged beautifully, showing deep grain patterns and honest player wear that tells its 45-year story.
- Neck: Solid walnut neck with a fast Ebony fingerboard.
- Upgraded Tone: This guitar has been professionally upgraded with a Gibson Burstbucker 2 in the neck and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge. This combo delivers everything from airy, vintage cleans to raw, harmonically rich growl.
